Social Studies Reflection: Pt.6

For the last few weeks my class peers & I have been learning about topic relating to the 2017 Elections.
Political Parties:

In Social Studies I studied Political Party policies of Education, Housing & Health.

The education policy I best support is  “Maori party” because they could help schools by having free schooling for secondary or primary. They could even give people that is leaving a head start of life by giving their own driving licence, bank account and also give them a “CV”. They also help children by providing free school care and holiday programmes for children. But also its not only helping them for school only but also helps their family, the reason how this helps there family is by the struggles about money.

The health policy that I best supported is “National” , because they’re helping the teegnagers of this generation. They’re helping them by “stopping teegnagers smoke” until 2025. These things will be good to vote for because teenagers today in NZ are smoking & drinking alcohol. I really support this party because it helps the parents around NZ.

The policy of housing I best support is  “Maori Party”, which is basically helping people out with their situation of living, such alike homeless people, they are trying to aim for the homeless people to be off the roads. They are also building so much private sales  and more social housings.

The main party that I voted for was the Maori Party.

Social Studies Reflections: Pt.5

How Does The NZ Government:

For the last two weeks my class & I have been learning about “The Government & Parliament.” Parliament is split up into two parts, The House of Representatives & The Governor General. The three branches of Government is Legislative, Executive & Judiciary. If you want to know the meanings to these word they are down below.

Legislative - Makes Laws: Examine debate & vote on bills.
Executive - Initiates and Administers Law: Decide policy, draft bills, enforce acts.
Judiciary - Applies and Interprets: Hear & decide case according to law.

Another thing we learnt about was the Democracy. The Democracy is when people vote for a new leader in their country for the Elections.

New Zealand Election 2017: Jacinda Ardern Brings Labour Back

For the last week new Labour Leader Jacinda Ardern has gained a lot of popularity to the people across New Zealand. The Labour party has reached their highest percentage in the polling since January 2014 & people across think that she should be the next Prime Minister. If she is elected to be the next Prime Minister, she’ll be the youngest PM of NZ & the second women to be elected. In my opinion I reckon she’ll be a good Prime Minister but at the same time won’t be able to control as better as our current Prime Minister, Bill English.

List Of People That Are Mentioned In The Article:
Jacinda Ardern (herself)
Bill English
Andrew Little
Priycanda Radhakrishnan
Willow-Jean Prime
Kiri Allan
Greg O’Connor
Tamati Coffey
Willie Jackson

Social Studies Reflection: Pt.1

In term two I conducted a Social Inquiry on Migration!

My Social Inquiry focussed on the movement for migrants from Australia to New Zealand.
The push reasons why Australian Migrants left their country of origin is that there are a lot of Bush Fires in Australia which is runing the WildLife living in the Bushes & people too.

The pull reasons why they moved to NZ is because in New Zealand we don't have a lot of Crime & Punishment & we have a lot of nice, kind people in our country.

Some of the obstacles they faced was Family lost & Emotional

Social Studiest Reflection: Pt.2

What Problems Did You Face? My group & I had to challenge, agreeing on Decisions. We all had our ups & downs on agreeing which answer was the best, but at the end we all got through & agreed on an answer.
How Did You Solve Problems? My group solved problems by using our thinking & participating skills. ….
Who Made Decisions? To be honest, the whole group made the decisions but before we made those decisions we had to agree on which decision that we had to agree on.
Was There One Leader Who Made The Decisions? No, because everyone worked together as a team because we were doing group work.
Why Did We Complete This Task?
We had to complete this task because our important reasons is our Marks & Reports.
What Are The Similarities And Differences Between Pretending To Be A Survivor On An Island (your task) And Reality?

That life is harder on an Island instead of being in your own environment because you're used to being in your own instead of another.

Yr9 CAMP!

On Monday & Tuesday we spent the last 2 days camping at Hunua Falls. First off we bussed from our school (Tamaki College) all the way to Kokako Lodge in Papakura. When we arrived we did a 10k Hike in the mountains to our camp site (Hunua Falls). During the Hike heaps of people slipped, had fun & there were a lot of laughs because we haven't been together before as a class. The Hike had finished & we arrive to out Camp site, we picked our cabins & dropped all our gears onto the ground.

Later on we were put into groups & did activities that involved Teamwork. The next day we carried on with our activities & unfortunately we had to go home because it was a Overnight camp which was gay. But my favourite thing about the camp was that we were together as a class & at night time us boys Benjamin, Taki, Araiti, Taiaha & Te-Paki were all talking & having a few laughs past our bed times.

Ms Robertson's Migration Story From Samoa

At today's Social Study period we had Presentation by Ms Robertson's mum. She came in & told us about her Migration from Samoa to New Zealand. She left Samoa & migrated to New Zealand in 1962 at the aged of 18, so now she'll be 73. The reason why she left Samoa because her parents told her to go to New Zealand was to build houses, work, make money so that she the money back to her parents in Samoa so that they can make houses here in New Zealand. The other reason why was because her parents wanted their Grandchildren to go overseas to Samoa show that they have the same ways that they learn't in New Zealand. Ms Robertson achieved all that & had children, she encouraged them & taught them heaps. Image result for samoaImage result for NZ

Sitting The Mid Term Exams

My prediction for the Mid Term Exams was that it was going to be hard because we had to sit it for 2 hours, which is a big step from Intermediate.
How Did I Feel During Exams? When sitting Exams it was tiring because we had to do the exams for three days straight (Wednesday to Friday).

1 Exam I Liked ~ My exam that I liked was Science because we had to do both things 1. Use our Chromebooks & fill out a form & 2. We used Pen & Paper.

1 Exam I Disliked ~ My exam that I disliked was Social Studies because Friday’s exam I felt sick because I started coughing and sweating after I finished it.

The Tokelauan Way Of Life

This term for Social Studies our theme is "Globalisation." Globalisation means the process by which businesses or other organisations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. Our class has been learning about the small island in the South Pacific called Tokelau. Tokelau is unique because kids that go to school use boats to transport. Did you know you can't fly to Tokelau you have to fly to Samoa then take a boat to Tokelau which will take 3 days.

Today we watched a video about Tokelau called ‘Our Small World.  The Tokelauan way of life is different to ours because their life is different. 1. Students take a boat to school, "How cool is that" & 2. Everyone Tokelau know each other.
