A Successful Finish!

A few weeks ago our movie was screened at Hoyts Cinemas in Sylvia Park. It was for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. We started our first shoot in July and finished our last one in September - so that was about two months of shooting.
We had a few ups and downs shooting the movie, agreeing and disagreeing to certain things but we got through it. After we finished shooting and editing our movie we were really impressed so we decided to go with that. After the screening at the Cinema we had some really positive comments from teachers and students even some from other schools. If you haven't seen our movie yet then click on the video below - that was A Successful Finish!.

My Prediction!!

Our P.A.T testing has started and we've done a few, so today's blog is about My Prediction on our next test. I predict that we'll be having a test on Thursday and the subject might be Vocabulary. The reason why I have chosen this subject is because we have done our writing test, reading test, maths test and gloss test. If you want to know if my prediction is right then stay tuned until the next blog THANK YOU.

There's Plants Everywhere!!

There's Plants Everywhere!!

A few weeks ago, we went to the Auckland Botanic Gardens. Everyone was excited to go even the teachers. When we arrived everyone was thrilled to go there. All classes followed each other but my class went our own way. Before starting our journey we stopped and I was put in charge as our map guider. First off we went into the Rock Garden to the Urban Trees, Threatened Native Plants and lastly to The Native Plant Identification Trail. At the end we went for a drink and strolled back to the bus. Everyone had fun, I also had a great time being our map guider and we were all exhausted, arhhhhhhh.

Receiving My Cross Country Certificate

Last term we had our school cross country race and I did a blog about that so go and check it out. It is called 2nd At Cross Country. But this blog is about me receiving my cross country certificate.

This happened last term straight after the lunch time bell, "RINGGGG!" We had to line up in front of the library and wait for our teachers to go in. We went in and sat down. First off the certificates were sent out to the Third placers, then next Second placers, where I was placed. My name was called and I went up and received my certificate from our sports teacher, Mr Reid. Next we took photos and went back to class and took some more photos and some videos.

2nd At Cross Country

On Wednesday afternoon we had our school Cross-Country Race and yeah in the title it says, "2nd At Cross Country", so that means I came 2nd place.

First off the year 1's - 7's started then us the year 8's. When we went to the start we all got ready except for me, because I was too busy posing in front of the camera but out of nowhere I heard, "GO."  Everyone started running but I was still posing, so I quickly looked to the right and everyone was gone so I darted as fast as I could to catch up with the runners, then in no time I caught up. We had to do 3 laps. In the middle of the race I felt so tired, that I felt I was going to faint. At the end I passed my friend Maranatha. As I was running around the field I could hear everyone saying " GO QUROS!!!" So I ran as fast as I could towards the finish line and I got there. YAY!! I felt exhausted after that race and I was also excited that I placed 2nd.

Here is a few pictures throughout the whole race!!

Just Doing My Job

"Just Doing My Job"
This afternoon I helped my friends Heilala and Sophie-Isabella create a video for Netball. It was fun, funny and annoying because we kept on restarting our video over and over again. When we finished we were impressed then we took a photo. After we went back to class and showed our teacher ( Mrs Golder ), she was impressed too.

Back At Snag Golf

Last week on Friday our first Coach Jay was sick so we had another coach and joining us was Coach Danny. For today's lesson we were taught how to chip the ball over, in or onto something. We were all split up into groups of 3 and 2, I was with my friend Meana. I really  enjoyed chipping the ball.  It was very interesting. Me and Meana were working together as a TEAM. We both did some communicating, sharing and being fair. Snag Golf was amazing and I can't wait until next week's Snag Golf lesson.

Here's a video:

Snag Golf

Last week on Thursday morning it was the first time for the Seniors to have Snag Golf and joining us was our coach, Jay. We had learnt a lot of things at Snag Golf. We were all split up into groups of three. I was in a group with boys and I was with my friends' Suliasi and Aydrian. The thing that really interested me was putting the ball through our sticky mountain and into the hoop. Snag Golf was fun and I can't wait until next week.

Thank You Terry Jarvis

Last week on Thursday morning my teacher Mrs Golder told me to write a small Thank You Card or Poster to our school Book Sponsor, Terry Jarvis. As I started Mrs Golder told me that my deadline was at 12:00 pm Friday.

When Friday came I did completely nothing but small drawings, I only had three hours left until I had to finish it, so I tried very hard to not be distracted by my classmates. There were a few times I became distracted.  It was from all the Fun activities that the class was doing but I got back to work. I was nearly finished. I only had a few minutes left before I  had to hand it in. I tried my best to finish it fast. I finished and I went to Mrs Golder in the room next door to show her and she was very impressed. After she took a picture, I had to hand it in quick, I only had a few seconds left so I bolted as fast as I could to hand it to a teacher, Mrs Pederson. When I walked into the office Mrs Pederson told me that I only had 1 minute left. She saw it, and she and another teacher were also impressed as well.

This is how it turned out:

Reading To Room 7

Yesterday afternoon Room 7 came to our class for Buddy Reading.  This is when Seniors read to the Juniors or Juniors read to the Seniors. As Room 7 arrived in the door I grabbed a book from the Library called Peter And The Wolf. I got Junior and  read the book to her. After reading the book Room 7's teacher Ms Riley told the kids to do two medals and a mission which is the listener has to give feedback to the reader. My two medals was for 1. Reading with expression, 2. With a loud and clear voice and my mission was nothing. I had really enjoyed reading a book to a Junior and hope my other senior classmates enjoyed it too.

Receiving My Certificate

A few weeks ago on Monday we had a Senior Syndicate Assembly and Room 11 was hosting it. By the time the other teachers finished handing out their certificates, it was my teacher Mrs Golder's turn to get up and go in front of everybody. She said my name "Quros," and why I got the certificate, "for his can do attitude in all areas of his learning." I was in  absolute shock when she called out my name. After I received my certificate my friend Maranatha had received a certificate too. After the Senior Syndicate Assembly MaranathaMeana (my backup photographer) and I went to the back of the Multipurpose and took several photos.

My Speech To Ravinder

"On behalf of Ruapotaka School I would like to say, 'Thank You Ravinder'  for coming here and talking and advising us about reading. Just as reading is important to you reading is also important to us. I think it's a great idea that you're a part of the Duffy Programme because now we get to receive our Duffy Books."

Hosting The Senior Syndicate Assembly

On Monday it was our turn to host the Senior Syndicate Assembly for Rooms 9, 10 and 11. We had planned this since last Friday afternoon. Our plan was to do something called a Class Feud, just a bit like that T.V Show, Family Feud. I was the person who did the introduction and prefect reminders along with another prefect, my friend Heilala. We had sung two songs: one Am I Wrong by: Nico and Vinz and two Hello by: Adele. For Class Feud Room 9 came 1st place, along with Room 10 2nd place, then my class Room 12 3rd place, and Room 11 last place. Our Senior Syndicate Assembly was fun!!

Back At It Again!!!

Right now I am at school, it has already been one hour since school's started so now I am going to write you a short recount about what I have done so far.

Firstly I arrived here at school at eight thirty-one in the morning, with my brother Texas and friend Samuel. Time passed before the bell had rung for fitness at eight fifty-five. After fitness I went back to class with all my classmates and my teacher. Everyone was back at school and had switched their lazy modes into working mode.

The first thing that we did was the Roll Administration, Oral Language and Writing. But while doing our writing one of my two classmates Sophie-Isabella and Pallas had forgotten their passwords to their Chromebooks, so they wasted our writing time because they took Mrs Golders' focus away from us. So that's what had happened in one hour at school.

Duffy Assembly

On Friday afternoon the school had to go to the Multipurpose room for a special Duffy Assembly. I was chosen to say a short Thank You speech to our special guest Ravinder. Firstly everyone had to be seated until Meana, one of our Year 7 prefects led our visitor into the Multipurpose. When she came in everyone had to be very quiet, next Mrs Pederson introduced her to our school and then she had introduced herself.

Ravinder had talked about how reading is important and a little bit about herself. After that we had sang the Duffy Song. Next I had to get up and say my speech in front of Ravinder.

Time For Tabloids!!

Yesterday afternoon the school had Tabloids. First off, every class had to start packing up until Mrs Vickers called us up to come outside the staffroom. Mrs Vickers said "Everyone come up to the staffroom." My teacher, Mrs Golder gave me her camera to do the photography. So I had to go around every activity and take pictures. Then when I finished I gave the camera to my backup Photographer, Meana so that she can take photos.

Here's a photo of me and my friend Suliasi on the day.

School Time!!

MAN MAN MANNNNN! It all started off when I had arrived for the first day for 2016 back to school, I could feel all the nervous energy up in the atmosphere and the chilling breeze crawling down my spine. Next I sat down outside the Staff Room and had thought to myself "Today must be good a day". As I walked into my new classroom (Room 12) I saw my new teacher Mrs Golder and had greeted her with a "Good Morning". A half hour later..... "RINNNNNGGGGG" goes the bell, everyone in the whole senior block had to line up and get ready for fitness. Later on that day school finished, WHAT A DAY.
