A Successful Finish!

A few weeks ago our movie was screened at Hoyts Cinemas in Sylvia Park. It was for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. We started our first shoot in July and finished our last one in September - so that was about two months of shooting.
We had a few ups and downs shooting the movie, agreeing and disagreeing to certain things but we got through it. After we finished shooting and editing our movie we were really impressed so we decided to go with that. After the screening at the Cinema we had some really positive comments from teachers and students even some from other schools. If you haven't seen our movie yet then click on the video below - that was A Successful Finish!.

2nd At Cross Country

On Wednesday afternoon we had our school Cross-Country Race and yeah in the title it says, "2nd At Cross Country", so that means I came 2nd place.

First off the year 1's - 7's started then us the year 8's. When we went to the start we all got ready except for me, because I was too busy posing in front of the camera but out of nowhere I heard, "GO."  Everyone started running but I was still posing, so I quickly looked to the right and everyone was gone so I darted as fast as I could to catch up with the runners, then in no time I caught up. We had to do 3 laps. In the middle of the race I felt so tired, that I felt I was going to faint. At the end I passed my friend Maranatha. As I was running around the field I could hear everyone saying " GO QUROS!!!" So I ran as fast as I could towards the finish line and I got there. YAY!! I felt exhausted after that race and I was also excited that I placed 2nd.

Here is a few pictures throughout the whole race!!

My Speech To Ravinder

"On behalf of Ruapotaka School I would like to say, 'Thank You Ravinder'  for coming here and talking and advising us about reading. Just as reading is important to you reading is also important to us. I think it's a great idea that you're a part of the Duffy Programme because now we get to receive our Duffy Books."

Duffy Assembly

On Friday afternoon the school had to go to the Multipurpose room for a special Duffy Assembly. I was chosen to say a short Thank You speech to our special guest Ravinder. Firstly everyone had to be seated until Meana, one of our Year 7 prefects led our visitor into the Multipurpose. When she came in everyone had to be very quiet, next Mrs Pederson introduced her to our school and then she had introduced herself.

Ravinder had talked about how reading is important and a little bit about herself. After that we had sang the Duffy Song. Next I had to get up and say my speech in front of Ravinder.

School Time!!

MAN MAN MANNNNN! It all started off when I had arrived for the first day for 2016 back to school, I could feel all the nervous energy up in the atmosphere and the chilling breeze crawling down my spine. Next I sat down outside the Staff Room and had thought to myself "Today must be good a day". As I walked into my new classroom (Room 12) I saw my new teacher Mrs Golder and had greeted her with a "Good Morning". A half hour later..... "RINNNNNGGGGG" goes the bell, everyone in the whole senior block had to line up and get ready for fitness. Later on that day school finished, WHAT A DAY.

Touch Rugby Sessions

“TOUCH RUGBY SESSIONS”
For the past few weeks, as a student my class and I plus my teacher were taught by an amazing Touch Rugby coach named Trevor or (Trev).

In our first session we learnt how to scoop, 2 man, plant, pass and at the end we played HOT POTATO. In our second session we learnt that if you run in with the ball in either use the opposite side to touch just like contesting someone and being quick.

Touch Rugby has been great for my class and I for the past few weeks and we had a great time. I wished we could of said Thank You to Trevor for his great coaching and his 100% good attitude. THANKS TREV.

My Cousin's 21st Birthday

Sketch Gothic School Regular

Saturday morning at approximately 12:45 my family and I went to a Buffet Restaurant called Happy Day's, where my cousin's 21st birthday was going to be held. When I walked through that door I could smell some nice food- mmm mm. I saw some fried-rice, Mr chips, pork, mud cakes, the rest of my family and some unknown people. But I scored me some noodles, chips and mayonnaise

"THE SHAKEOUT DRILL"

Today at approximately 9: 15 schools in New Zealand were involved in a shakeout drill. When the bell rang 3 times we all had to STOP what we were doing and go under our desks. But our teacher Mr Reid couldn't fit properly under so he took some pictures of us while the drill was on. In one of the photo’s my friend Sebastian is like “Let Me Out” I’ll rescue you Mr Reid. Here’s the picture.

Yesterday Myron came to our Duffy Assembly to talk to us about Reading is Achieving and his cycling career. He also bought his cycling equipment as well. He was inspired by his brothers to cycle. At the age of 3 he started riding ,then when he was 3 and a half he took off his training wheels. Many years later, at the age of 8 he started competing in cycling competitions and now he’s a professional cycler who represented our country in the Commonwealth Games. Mr Mad Messenger

Yesterday morning rooms 11 and 12 went to see the Mad Messenger. First he told us something called "U Talk" something that has to do with anyone saying saying negative things to you, then we had volunteers to write the negative word on the board that someone has said to you. Next he told us about a guy named Thomas Edison the man who created a light bulb. He also taught us about never letting yourself down but in his own way. Last he created a drawing of Iron Man.
